Scrappy Dudes
The stage was set perfectly for a cop movie. Inside the neutral colored car, two tired looking guys, ashtray full of butts, and empty coffee cups rattling around our feet. Outside it’s a gloomy, rainy, Tuesday in the Gowanus section of Brooklyn. “This is where I usually see them”, Jon Melemed, Editor of Overflow Magazine tells me, “but I wonder if the rain will keep them away”. I find my...

This is a video of a Cover shoot of Janelle Monae for URB Magazine a few years back. Dug it up from the archives for your viewing pleasure. The opening scene is from the steps of my old apartment, to date, it is the shortest distance I have ever had to travel for work. Enjoy!

This is a moving storyboard I shot for Trexima a few years back that has now been cleared. All images were shot on green screen and with motion added in post. These determine the direction of the full production commercial spots.

This is a mock up trailer for a film in the works entitled “Miss Wicket” which is inspired by Lady Winchester and her amazingly eccentric mansion. The film is the brainchild of uber production designer Bob Andrews, was shot by me, and editing done by the very talented Leo Aponte.

This is a collection of B&W clips I took, edited, and made the music for. It’s interesting going from still to moving images, the possibilities are so endless that they seem overwhelming. When telling a story in still photography, you have the constraints of a single (or group of) still, silent images and one camera angle per image, this medium is really inspiring with all of the...

Tommy Lee and the Methods of Mayhem
I recently got a call from DJ Aero who saw my cover of 88-Keys on Urb Magazine. He said that him and Tommy Lee would be in the city in a few weeks and would like to schedule some shooting time with me for them. My good friends at the KDU were gracious enough to let us use there showroom that day and between all the inside and street photography we did, there were a ton of awesome shots. Dj Aero...

Welcome to the www.ericvogelphoto.com Blog
So everyones Blogging, time for me to jump in. I have created this as a way to post some of my experimental work, outtakes, and generally, things that don’t fit into the marketing statement exhibited on my website. This is an oppertunity for me to create a venue where I can show behind the scenes shots, video footage, and anything else I have done that I feel deserves a stage. While this may...
